ABOUT SERENE ART
About Michelle
Serene Art is based in Anna Bay, Port Stephens, Australia. Originally from the UK, I’ve lived in Australia since 2002. The first year was spent living in Tennant Creek NT, the second in Rockhampton QLD, 11 years in Sydney and then settling more recently in Nelson Bay with my husband and 2 children.
Drawing and painting is something I’ve had an interest in since a child so it’s great to be able to share some of my work with you. My favourite subject to paint is people, in particular faces – there’s so much in a face and in the eyes. For me there’s nothing more relaxing than acrylic paint being pushed around a good quality canvas, it’s so easy to get lost in what you’re painting.
My artworks include acrylic paint, charcoal, watercolour and mixed media. I like to draw upon emotions and experiences of local and desert landscapes from our travels around the globe as well as in Australia.
My Artwork
In 2011 I won awards in the Mixed Media Class at the Blacktown Show.
During January 2017 I was contacted by the Hunter Botanical Gardens to do an “Artists in Residence” 3 day workshop. This was a Port Stephens Council funded art workshop working in collaboration with local potter, Helen Jackson, providing art workshops to children aged 8 to 12.
I sell original works as well as reproduce my work on such media as canson paper, matt photographic paper and canvas utilising a fabulous printing supplier, also used by many professional photographers. The materials I use are all Australian made and include fabulous quality Matisse Derivan paint and canvas stretched on environmentally sustainable wood frames. With art reproductions, the supplier I use for canvas re-prints guarantees 75 years without fading.
I’m also available for commissioning. Maybe you have an idea of what you’d like to see on your’s or your child’s wall but have no idea how to produce it, contact me and we can organise a time to talk.
As well as supplying your home or office with good quality artwork, I also offer affordable art lessons to adults and children. Art lessons are currently offered on Tuesday and Wednesday during and after school hours. Lessons are all guided and focus on developing existing ability and teaching technique.
If you have any interest in painting and drawing, or you’d like to have some of my artwork at your place I’d love to hear from you.
